Casa Grande's Gentile, St. Vincent's Markovich and Galloway are MVPs

D.J. Gentile, who led Casa Grande to the Sonoma County League championship and a third straight North Coast Section 3A title, heads the list of a bundle of south county athletes to earn all-league baseball and softball honors.

Gentile was named Most Valuable Player of the Sonoma County League after batting .528 with six home runs and 30 RBIs.

Also named to the All-SCL first-team from the champion Gauchos were third baseman Justin Montante and pitcher Kory Wallace. Chosen to the second team was pitcher Chris Jensen. Catcher Joe Bouchard and outfielders Anthony Biasi and Robert Morales received honorable mention honors.

Casa Grande coach Paul Maytorena shared Coach of the Year honors with Healdsburg's Mark Domenichelli.

Petaluma outfielder Ryan Talesfore and catcher Chadd Krist, a sophomore, were also named to the All-SCL first team, along with Hubble Richmond, who made the select squad as a utility player after both pitching and playing third base for the Trojans.

Receiving honorable mention notice for Petaluma were sophomore second baseman Brett Pawlan, shortstop Andrew Ross, and pitcher Nick McInnis.

St. Vincent's Ryan Galloway and Kevin Markovich share Most Valuable Player honors in the North Central League I South. Both are seniors. Galloway played third base and Markovich center field for the league champions.

Chosen to the first team from the Mustangs were pitcher Nick Baldocchi, shortstop Tommy Mellin, catcher Dave Wyman, and outfielders Brad Davis and Jon Grinnell.

Receiving honorable mention notice for the Mustangs were first baseman Chris Borjian and second baseman Jordan Fleischmann.

Sophomore Peter Glatt and juniors Nick Caramagno and Ben Kain-Williams, along with senior Jared Spainhour, were named to the All-North Central League II South team after leading Tomales to a share of the championship. Kevin McIsaac and Matt Osborn received honorable mention notice.

Casa Grande shortstop Heather Salgado, first baseman Nikita Zaharin and catcher Nicole Byrne were named to the All-Sonoma County League first team. Pitcher Carly Shepherd and outfielder Lian Finer were chosen to the second team.

Outfielder Shannon Kehr, third baseman Cassie Pitkin, first baseman Amanda Sharp and shortstop Ali Klemenok were first team selections from Petaluma. Pitcher Sarah Marcia and catcher Courtney Millard were named to the second team.

Danielle Frisk, Alex Shaeffer, Brittany Perez, Shawna Hettrich and Danielle Garcia from St. Vincent's NCS A runner-up Lady Mustangs were named to the North Central League I South All-League team. Jenna Spaan received honorable mention notice.

Ali Gerritsen and Brittany Furlong from Tomales were placed on the All-North Central League II South team. Amanda Freeman received honorable mention honors.
