REG gymnastics in Nationals Two athletes from the Redwood Empire Gymnastics' advanced boys team completed the 2006 season with debut performances at the Junior Olympic National Championships in Battle Creek, Mich. Nick Walsh, competing in the Level 10, 14-15 age group, finished 113th on vault, 176th on high bar and 178th on pommel horse. In the Level 9, 12-13 age group, Jeffrey Beasley came in 190th on high bar.
Polo season starts with Classic The second annual Polo Classic mounts up at the Wine Country Polo Club in Oakmont on Sunday, June 25 to inaugurate the 2006 Sonoma County polo season. The Polo Classic is a benefit event for Memorial Hospice. Gates open at 11 a.m. with a polo demonstration at noon. The first match begins at 12:30 p.m., with the second match at 1:30. Between matches, the attendees are invited onto the field for a champagne toast and the traditional divot stomp. Quantum Leap basketball clinic The Quantum Leap Basketball Clinic returns to Petaluma for four days, July 20-23, in the Kenilworth Junior High School gym. The camp is for girls 8 to 18 years of age.
