Torliatt thanks supporters, congratulates candidates

EDITOR: I want to take this opportunity to thank the people of the 6th Assembly District for their encouragement and support. I had the privilege of speaking with many of you on the campaign trail over the past year and found it rewarding and enlightening. The energy and ideas exhibited by all were inspiring and solidified my belief that we are fortunate to live in an area with so many compassionate citizens who truly care about educating our children, providing health care for all and protecting our environment.

I would especially like to thank everyone who voted for me, volunteered, and contributed to our campaign. We ran a substantive, positive, grassroots, issue-oriented campaign and I could not have done it without you. As many of you know, absentee ballots are still being counted. Whatever the outcome, I am honored that so many of you feel I am the best candidate to represent you in Sacramento. We had an extremely strong showing, especially in Sonoma County, where we received over 51 percent of the vote.

I would also like to congratulate the other candidates, who put themselves out on the line to run for this important seat. I know each candidate is committed to serving this district. The quality of the candidates made the voters' decision truly difficult, and it was a pleasure working with and getting to know them.

I will continue to work hard to represent this region as a Metropolitan Transportation Commissioner, Bay Area Air Quality Management director and Petaluma City Council member. Public service is my passion, and I thank you for the opportunity to serve you.

Since June 6 has come and gone we believe we have picked up all of our yard signs. If you see any signs that have not been taken down please contact me at 763-6825 and we will come by to pick them up.
