Casa Grande PTSA thanks volunteers
June 28, 2006
EDITOR: On behalf of the Casa Grande Parent, Teacher, Student Association, we want to thank the more than 150 volunteers who took part as judges for the senior project at the end of May. Special thanks go to Warren Hernand and the Petaluma Valley Rotary members who volunteered. We also want to acknowledge the three teachers, Vanessa Hauswald, Dan D'Angelo and Athena Kautsch, who worked with 250 seniors to coordinate this powerful learning opportunity for our young people, and Patricia Souza from the district office. The students, teachers and members of the PTSA greatly appreciate the community support we received. Thank you to the 50 volunteers who met with the students to work on their essays last March. In particular, Paul Yokey worked with dozens of students and helped the new volunteers. Additionally, we want to thank Megan Donner, the culinary arts teacher, and her students for providing terrific gourmet dinners for the volunteers each day. This is a special opportunity for students to learn and apply skills and receive authentic feedback from adults. We invite you to get involved in our schools to see the remarkable efforts by our teachers and the amazing learning opportunities afforded our students. If you are interested in volunteering next year, let us know at cg_sr_projects@hotmail.com. JILL ZWEIER and SUE LASSEN, Petaluma |
