Man arrested on drug, illegal weapon charges
June 14, 2006
A Bodega Bay man was arrested in Helen Putnam Plaza Wednesday evening for possession of marijuana and an illegal martial arts weapon, as well as violation of probation, said Sgt. D.J. Phimister of the Petaluma Police Department. Police officers responded to the plaza at 7: 18 p.m. after receiving a report that juveniles were drinking and smoking marijuana there. No juveniles were found, but during the investigation the officers contacted Raymond Eric Brown, 22, who admitted he was carrying a small amount of marijuana. Officers checked Brown's backpack, and discovered that he had a set of Nan chucks, an illegal martial arts weapon. They also discovered that he is on probation for a driving offense that disqualified him from being admitted for bail. Brown was taken into custody without incident, booked at the police department and then taken to Sonoma County Jail.
