June 21, 2006
Denise Urton, a detective with the Petaluma Police Department, was appointed June 1 to the District Attorney Bureau of Investigations, said Sonoma County District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua. Urton has worked for 14 years as a police officer and detective with the Petaluma and Capitola police departments, and has conducted criminal investigations in cases involving homicide, robbery, sexual assault, kidnapping, domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse, hate crimes and Internet crimes.
She also has conducted background investigations for public safety and investigations of critical incidents involving officers. In 2006, Urton was honored as the Sonoma County Peace Officer of the Year. Lt. Brian Davis of the Santa Rosa Police Department also will join the District Bureau of Investigations. "We are very fortunate to have such experienced and talented investigators join our staff," Passalacqua said.
