Carnival of Chaos this Thursday

Kids of all ages are invited to check out Carnival of Chaos, an interactive vaudeville style show beginning at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Petaluma Library, 100 Fairgrounds Drive.

The carnival features juggling, live music, physical comedy, humor and theatrical flair. Admission is free.

Learn to cha-cha or foxtrot

Footloose Dance Studio is offering eight-week dance classes in Latin rhythms and ballroom this month in Petaluma.

The Latin rhythms class is a fusion between Latin dance and exercise to Afro-Cuban rhythms. Class time is from 10:45 a.m. to noon Saturdays at BodyWorks, 490 Second St. Cost is $96 for eight weeks or $15 drop-in.

A beginning ballroom class focusing on foxtrot, waltz, swing and tango is held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the Petaluma Community Center, 320 N. McDowell Blvd. Cost is $80 for eight weeks or $15 drop-in.

A beginning Latin dance focusing on cha-cha, mambo, samba and merengue is from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Wednesdays at the community center. Cost is $80 for eight weeks, $15 drop-in.

A beginning ballroom class is also offered from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursdays at Footloose Dance Center, 5320-B Old Redwood Highway. An intermediate ballroom class is held from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Thursdays at Footloose. Cost for classes at the dance center are $80 for eight weeks, $15 drop-in.

Jesse Reichek's Kabbalah paintings

"Partners in Creation," a slide presentation and lecture led by John Bertucci on Jesse Reichek's Kabbalah paintings, begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at Windrush Farm, 2263 Chileno Valley Road.

Bertucci is assistant curator of the year-long retrospective of Reichek's work. His presentation will focus on the creative itinerary of Reichek's Kabbalah series and prepare viewers for the final installment of the exhibition, "The Song of Songs," set to open July 1 at the Marin French Cheese Factory.

Kids day at the Farmers Market

A fun-filled day for kids is planned at the Petaluma Farmers Market children's activity day held from 2 to 5 p.m. in Walnut Park, on the corner of Petaluma Boulevard and D Street.

The day features free craft projects for kids, a jumping house, pony rides and face painting. Petaluma's own Realtor band The Natural Hazards will be performing. The Farmers Market features more than 50 booths selling fresh produce, oysters, olive oil, cheeses, baked goods, hot foods and crafts.

Twist and Shout this Friday

Petaluma's funky dance jam with deejay Val Richman takes place from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday at BodyWorks, 490 Second St.

The dance features a wide variety of music. No partner or dance experience is necessary.

Admission is $10 general. First time price is $5. Frequent dancer cards are available for $40 for five jams.

Artist Susan Adams honored

Petaluma artist Susan Adams received the Miriam Schorr Memorial Award for Works on Paper at the National Association of Women Artists' annual juried exhibition.

The NAWA is the oldest professional women's fine arts organization in America, founded in 1889 and based in New York City. Each year, NAWA members are invited to participate in the annual exhibition. The winners are featured in a catalog shared with the Archives of American Art, the Smithsonian Institution and the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

Adams' work is on display in the Irvin and Lois E. Cohen Gallery at the Goggle Works Center for the Arts in Reading, Pa.
