Acoustic band plays at Bricks A concert featuring Josh Needleman's Acoustic Band is set from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at Bricks, 16 Kentucky St. Needleman's music includes original songs, fiddle tunes, historic folk, newgrass, swing jazz, Latin jazz, gypsy jazz and popular music presented in a mountain style and instrumentation. 'Sacred Space' exhibit begins Santa Rosa Junior College's Petaluma campus presents "Sacred Space: Paintings by the Women Artists of Mithila, India" now through Feb. 24 in Mahoney Library, 680 Sonoma Mountain Parkway. The exhibit offers a glimpse into the rich world of culture, legend and folklore, which serve as inspiration for these artists. Viewing hours are from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is free. Parking is $3.
Jesse Reichek retrospective The third in the six-part series of the Jesse Reichek retrospective is on display now through Feb. 19 at the Marin French Cheese Fact-ory, 7500 Red Hill Road. This exhibit, titled "Creations," includes all 233 works in the series done between 1990 and 1994, as well as several older works. Pride & Joy benefit concert Popular Bay Area dance band Pride & Joy performs a benefit concert for the Petaluma High School music program at 8 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Mystic Theater, 23 Petaluma Blvd. North. The evening begins at 7:30 p.m. with a special performance by the PHS Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Cliff Eveland. Tickets are $25. The Songs of Edith Piaf Cinnabar's Nancy Prebilich joins forces with Viennese music director Milos Stankovic to create a tribute to France's beloved "Little Sparrow" Edith Piaf at Cinnabar Theater, 3333 Petaluma Blvd. North. The concert features vocalists and musicians Steven Abbott, Jared Emerson-Johnson, Karen Thomson Hall, Gloria Strasburg, Sona Tubridy, Peter DiBono, Trevor Kinsel, Emmett Ely and Preblich. Most songs will be performed in French. Performances are at 8 p.m. Jan. 20-21. Admission is $25 general, $23 seniors and students. Production Lab comes to PCA People interested in learning how to create a high-quality television show or short film may want to sign up for Production Lab, a two-month class offered at the Petaluma Community Access studio. The weekly sessions begin Jan. 23 and will be held Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. through the end of March. The class is free to all PCA members. The emphasis is on content, aesthetics and technique, rather than technical skills. The program was developed last year by Petaluman John Bertucci. It is now directed by David Waxman, with help from community volunteers Bert Crews and Lou Zweier, who serve as lab mentors. The lab will culminate in a live television broadcast on April 1. The fall 2005 showcase, which was broadcast live on Dec. 17, will be rebroadcast Jan. 21 at 4 and 8 p.m. on Channel 27 and Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. on Channel 26.
