Petaluma celebrates Fourth of July The City of Petaluma celebrates the red, white and blue with a Fourth of July fireworks show on Tuesday at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds, 175 Fairgrounds Drive. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Dinner, drinks and desserts will be available for purchase at food concessionaires. Those attending should bring lawn chairs, blankets, warm clothes and flashlights. Private fireworks and alcohol are not permitted. Admission is free. The show is sponsored by the City of Petaluma, Shamrock and Basin Street Properties. Call 778-4380 for information.
Fireworks in Bodega Bay on Sunday Fourth of July festivities in Bodega Bay begin with a pancake breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the Bodega Grange Hall, Highway One at Bodega Avenue. Cost is $6 general, $4 kids, children under 3 eat free. Proceeds benefit the Bodega Bay Firefighters Association. A fireworks show sponsored by the Bodega Bay Area Chamber of Commerce begins at 9:30 p.m. Sunday at Westside Park on Westshore Road in Bodega Bay. Admission to the show is free. Casa fireworks booth moves The Casa Grande High School Boosters' fireworks booth has moved to the Lucchesi soccer field parking lot across the street from Bernard Eldredge School, 207 Maria Drive. The booth will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 29 through July 4. Proceeds benefit academics, athletics and the arts at Casa Grande High School. Contact Robin Elliott at 765-2311 for details.
Students from Spain seeking housing Host families are needed to provide housing to Spanish exchange students arriving in Petaluma on July 6 for a three week-long immersion program. Students range in age from 14-19. Sponsored by the EF/Educational Homestay Program, student activities include a trip to San Francisco and optional trips to Marine World and paintball park as well as welcome and farewell parties. Host families are invited to participate in any of the activities throughout the visit. Host families are asked to provide an extra plate at the table and a bed. Extra bed are available for those that want to host an exchange student, but lack an extra bed. Students do not need a private room.
