Treasure Island VBS in Penngrove

Penngrove Community Church sails off to Treasure Island for its sea-themed vacation Bible school held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays July 5-26 and from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 30.

This VBS is for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. The fun includes songs, skits, crafts, games and Bible stories.

Penngrove Community Church is located at 9970 Oak St. in Penngrove.

Bluegrass church service July 2

First Presbyterian Church of Petaluma holds a bluegrass-style service at 10 a.m. July 2 outdoors on the church grounds, 939 B St.

The Bluegrass Band, complete with guitar, mandolin and fiddle, will perform 15 minutes before service, and then lead singing during service.

To wrap up festivities, there will be a watermelon seed-spitting contest after church. Last year's spitting champion was Pastor Dave Weidlich.

Admission is free. The public is welcome.

Vacation Bible school at Adobe Christian

It's vacation Bible school time at Adobe Christian Center and children of all ages are invited to participate in the fiesta-themed VBS held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays July 5 through Aug. 2.

"Our fiesta program will provide fun, memorable Bible learning activities for kids of all ages," said Pastor Bill Funk.

Admission is free. Activities include games, music, treats and crafts.

Adobe Christian Center is located at 2875 Adobe Road.

'Fiesta' vacation Bible school

Kids in pre-school through sixth grade are invited to attend Petaluma Christian Church's "Fiesta" vacation Bible School from 8:45 a.m. to noon daily through June 23 at the church, 1160 Schuman Lane.

Activities include games, snacks, music, crafts, teamwork-building and a missions project to reach needy children in Latin American countries. Admission is free.
